Every year we focus on a goal, an objective or a target to reach success. We look at everyone and say “I can do that” “I can be that person” “I can have that”. We want these things and we set goals for them that we never actually accomplish. Is it that you set your goals too high or you are just not ready for the success that comes with the goals? At times this is true and other times they are very realistic goals with all the right motives attached to them. We want to give you steps you could use that may help you finally accomplish these goals:
“The starting point of all achievement is the desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat,” Napoleon Hill. This is the stepping stone for any of your goals. Is it something you really desire/ need or just a seasonal want that can easily fade? Your desire will ignite the flames within you to attain your goals at whatever cost. If you do find that you lost the passion to accomplish targets then maybe you just didn’t desire your goals enough.
Think about the way your goal, once achieved, would make you feel. The satisfaction, joy and happiness it could bring to your life. Once you have such thoughts, then you will get inspired to make the right steps needed to achieve that goal without distractions.
To achieve anything, always make a plan for the small steps you need to make to reach greatness. A goal cannot be achieved in one day but you know you can get there. So create action steps with a critical path that defines the small but key accomplishments along the way. This will encourage you for the greater accomplishment at the end of the journey.
At this point you will have to obtain a pessimistic view point. In your plans, something out of your control will definitely go wrong. You need to look at the factors that might stop you from achieving your goal in the time you have planned for. Find ways to overcome such challenges so that your progress is on time.
Check to see if your plans are actually working. If your goals are not working assess back at how much you want it and if the focus you have on achieving the goal is worth it.
At the end of the day, it’s only you that will be proud of yourself because you will have seen how far you have come. Take time out and really assess your goals. All the best as you set your goals for the coming year.
